The program features world premiere works by contemporary composer Leonid Iogansen, inspired by the sound and musical cultures of the East. The program features Leonid’s latest compositions for violin and piano, evoking the sounds of the Himalayas region. Both Western and Eastern instruments join for a full ensemble work, the music in which explores the bridge between the two musical universes. In addition, a curated selection of existing compositions for Chinese instruments complements the theme of the concert: merging the sounds of East and West.

The performances feature members of Stanford Baipu Chinese Music Ensemble and other world-class concert musicians:

Jennifer Hsieh, violin John Chiang, erhu Bruce Foster, clarinet Siqi (Jenny) Wu, pipa Bingyi Wang, guzheng Zhengyi Zhang, piano Yun Song Tay, conductor
